The Cable Light: Mont Blanc is filled with light by designer Matteo Ragni and Creative Cables
The Cable Light is the exclusive lamp designed by Matteo Ragni and made by Creative Cables. Inspired by the Skyway Monte Bianco cable car, it transforms the iconic cable into a modern work of light art and contemporary furnishing. A true design object that celebrates the mountain and the Italian-made engineering work, characterized by our components and our iconic textile cables.
The Cable Light is part of a series of objects that tell the story of “excellence at high altitude with respect for nature. Skyway Monte Bianco is not just a cable car to reach 3,466 meters. It is an idea: bringing man closer to the mountain and the sky, broadening horizons and crossing borders,” says Matteo Ragni, winner of the Compasso d’Oro in 2001, about his works.
In particular, he explains that this object consists of “a generously shaped bulb that is embraced by a basket formed by 8 fabric-covered arms, recalling the structure of the iconic cable car that allows us all panoramic ascents and acrobatic descents on snowy slopes.” In detail, “the upper handle that recalls the cable car trolley turns out, thanks to the inclination of the terminal, a useful hook for hanging the bulb on cables, branches, or simply to hold it comfortably in the hands. A solid turned wood base provides stability and a pleasant touch.”
