The iGadi House: Victorian features and Creative-Cables lamps in the heart of Cape Town

A peaceful hideaway in the centre of Cape Town, surrounded by the stunning scenery of Table Mountain and Lion’s Head. Where past meets present and street art meets local culture.

The iGadi House embodies all of this and so much more: a 19th century property turned exclusive hotel in the historic centre of the South African capital.

This Victorian-style residence, punctuated by vibrant splashes of colour, exudes an extraordinary charm thanks to its neutral accents and natural wood. The spaces are further adorned by a selection of Creative-Cables lamps which add even more harmony and balance.

The collection of Made in Italy lamps and illumination systems was selected by Cecile Bouquillion, owner of the hotel, to bring light to the ten rooms (ranging in size from intimate to spacious), cosy and welcoming common areas and heavenly outdoor spaces.

The entrance is perfected by tailor-made lighting solutions. The Fermaluce lamps at the reception desk and above the counter are simple yet distinctive, whilst the suspension lamp in the middle of the room almost appears to be floating to highlight the feather sculpture created by talented visual artist Désirée Botterill. The suspended ceiling roses hanging above the table also seem to complement the other art pieces; however the real stars of the show are the cyan blue fabric cable and the P-Light lamp holders, which blend perfectly with the wall decor and seating.

A blue-ribbon room

The relaxation room is bathed in intense shades of blue and illuminated by a simple suspension lamp completed with a homemade lampshade. The suspension lamp was installed beneath the original vintage beams using the Tubes System, which combines the charm of fabric linings with the practicality of an external wall installation. The plug-in lamp next to the sofa was paired with a blue cable that blends in with the wall, allowing the light bulb to shine.

Making your way up
